AWAKE!

I am currently working my way through an online Photoshop course called Awake! Living the (Photo)-Artistic Life. The designer of this course, Sebastian Michaels, has created an online Digital Art magazine and I have a bit of a write up in issue 2.

Yellow Phase

I appear to be in a yellow phase with my images right now. Nothing wrong with yellow. It's cheerful and warm and makes me feel good. Here are a few of my 'Yellow Phase' creations.

This last piece is total whimsy, not especially good but I had fun doing it.

I wonder what phase I'll be in next?!!!

Angel of the North

I recently managed to take some photos of what I consider to be a really awesome sculpture - The Angel of the North - up at Gateshead.

 

I think he is just amazing. I've tried to do a clean, simple piece in keeping with the clean lines of the angel himself and a much more arty piece.

 

 

 

Abstracts.

I find abstract art hard to do. Funny really, as pretty much anything goes but I still find it crazy hard. Usually when I create a piece, I have a finished image in my mind or I know what I want it for. Maybe a card for somebody or a card design somebody else might like. But abstract art isn't something I'd normally put on my wall.

I've done a few I'm actually quite pleased with and if I had wall space would quite happily put them on a wall.

 

 

Off to play with another technique so toodle pip for now.

Watercolour and Sketch

I have been learning how to create a watercolour and sketch image from a photo. I've used two tutorials for this technique. One by Katie Pertiet and the other by Sebastian Michaels as part of the Awake! course. Simple to do but not so easy to get it to look good. Here are a few of my images created using this technique.

 

 

I'm rather fond of this technique myself. It lends itself to so many different styles of compositions.

 

 

I'm going to work on abstracts next. 

AWAKE!

Well, I really can't believe it has been so many weeks since I last updated my blog. I've moved house, totally redecorated the new house, had a massive clearout of old, unwanted items or things that no longer serve my purpose. The charity shops just love me at the moment.

I find that having too many crafts that I want to do actually leads to stagnation. I feel torn between them all, guilty because I can't do them all so instead of actually being crafty and creating I don't actually achieve or do anything. Unfinished things have been passed onto somebody who wants to finish them, supplies have been passed to those who can use them. I'm not finished yet but it does feel like a weight is being lifted off my shoulders.

At the beginning of the year I made a vow to learn something new everyday and to create something everyday. It might be as simple as a cake, a plant planted in a pot or container, or better still my digital art.

In January, I also enrolled on a course by Sebastian Michaels called AWAKE - Living the (Photo)-Artistic Life. I have done his previous course and learnt so much but AWAKE is proving to be so very inspiring.

To be honest, this last 12 months for me have been one of the darkest moments in my life, ever but thanks to Sebastian and his unwavering belief in me and my creative abilities, I have kept going. Creating, learning and making art. I am now out the other side and I feel great. Still small hiccups now and again and days where my creative mojo goes AWOL but mostly I'm good and living a photo artistic life.
