Elements Only!

I often see images posted on the net and in Digital Art magazines of digital collages where no photos are used. I fancied having a go but found it really hard to do this type of digital art/collage. I'm usually inspired by the photo or a quote that sort of goes with a photo.

Anyway, here are my first two real attempts that I'm actually willing to share.

Angel of the North

I recently managed to take some photos of what I consider to be a really awesome sculpture - The Angel of the North - up at Gateshead.

 

I think he is just amazing. I've tried to do a clean, simple piece in keeping with the clean lines of the angel himself and a much more arty piece.

 

 

 

I've Taken the Plunge!

There is an art exhibition being planned at a local art gallery in August, The Qube, and they are asking for people to submit their art works, so........... I've decided to submit three pieces. The theme or title of the exhibition is "Life - An Altered Perspective." This is open to all artists, can be painted, photos, embroidery, pottery, mixed media. Any creative method.

I have decided on three pieces that have a similar theme and colour. A tree. I've had them printed onto ChromaLuxe aluminium. I am eagerly awaiting their delivery. I actually boobed and really wanted just lustre aluminium prints but hopefully I won't be disappointed with the finished prints.

These are the three I have chosen.

It will be a new experience for me to see my digital musings in print on a gallery wall. I'm excited and nervous both at the same time.

Creative Mojo is Missing!

Well, as I'm sure all artists and creative folk can attest to, my creative mojo has gone AWOL. Some days I can create like someone possessed and then my creative mojo clears off. It doesn't normally go for long but this time it seems to have taken an extended holiday. Hopefully it's sight seeing and finding lots of images and ideas for me when it gets back.

At times like this I actually do what got me into digital art in the first place..... I create digital scrapbook pages. And sometimes my creative spark appears for a short while. Here is a single page of a walk along a canal not far from where I used to live. I also created just a single artsy page from one of the photos.

The walk was along part of the Llangollen Canal at Whixall, North Shropshire. UK.

Abstracts.

I find abstract art hard to do. Funny really, as pretty much anything goes but I still find it crazy hard. Usually when I create a piece, I have a finished image in my mind or I know what I want it for. Maybe a card for somebody or a card design somebody else might like. But abstract art isn't something I'd normally put on my wall.

I've done a few I'm actually quite pleased with and if I had wall space would quite happily put them on a wall.

 

 

Off to play with another technique so toodle pip for now.

Watercolour and Sketch

I have been learning how to create a watercolour and sketch image from a photo. I've used two tutorials for this technique. One by Katie Pertiet and the other by Sebastian Michaels as part of the Awake! course. Simple to do but not so easy to get it to look good. Here are a few of my images created using this technique.

 

 

I'm rather fond of this technique myself. It lends itself to so many different styles of compositions.

 

 

I'm going to work on abstracts next.

Welcome to my new blog.

I have been digital scrapbooking for a while now and decided to offer my services as a 'Scrap 4 Hire' business.

I believe in preserving our memories for future generations. All too often we end up with drawers full of photos that within a very short time become meaningless because we don't know who, where or when they were taken.

On this blog I will share with you my ramblings and creations.

This picture was inspired by the song 'Windmills of Your Mind'. The windmill is a photograph that I took at Marsh Mill, Thornton.

I am exploring a variety of styles and also having a go at art Journalling purely for myself.
